His views on illegal immigration clashed with the philosophies of CNN, as did his stance on the issue of “The Birthers” and President Obama’s location of birth. The New York Post reports they were the main reasons Lou Dobbs abruptly resigned Wednesday evening, leaving CNN and the $9 million due to him for the last 18 months of his contract. The Post reveals Dobbs' departure could have been a clash of egos with CNN President Jonathan Klein, who in July sent a memo to Dobbs' staff to drop stories about the issue of Obama’s birthplace, writing “It seems this story is dead because anyone who still is not convinced doesn’t really have a legitimate beef.” Dobbs' agent in October sent a note to CNN, asking them to “let him (Dobbs) go.” Dobbs has been mum on any future plans, but continues to do his syndicated radio show with United Stations.
