The October 19 speculation in the T-R-I newsletter based here at Radio-Info was that Disney’s list of six stations it would sell included KQAM (1480). Now the Wichita Business Journal says there’s a deal, and it’s with Greg Steckline-run Steckline Communications. No price announced. KQAM has 5,000 watts daytime and 1,000 watts at night. Greg Steckline says he wasn’t looking for a purchase but “this one just kind of happened. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time.” KQAM will flip from the kids-and-moms Radio Disney format to news/talk as a companion to Steckline’s Sports Radio 1410 KGSO. That station’s GM Todd Johnson will oversee the new KQAM, as well. Michael Bergner was the broker on the sale.
