Kix Brooks, host of Citadel Media’s “American Country Countdown,” is adding yet another CMA Award to his trophy case. He has been named CMA’s broadcast personality of the year for the first time.

Of course, CMA Awards are nothing new to Brooks. As half of the musical duo Brooks & Dunn, he has previously won 19 of the glass trophies since 1992 with his partner Ronnie Dunn. Brooks & Dunn have been nominated for a total of 49 CMA Awards, including two this year for vocal duo and musical event of the year. But with today’s news, Brooks has become the first country artist ever to win a CMA in a broadcast category.

Brooks was just one of numerous personalities and stations winning CMA Awards today. Mercury Records artist Jamey Johnson notified all winners in the broadcast awards category on the air. Winners will be recognized during this year’s awards show, taking place Nov. 11 at Nashville’s Sommet Center.

Following is a complete list of winners.

Radio Station of the Year:

• Major market: KYGO Denver (its third win and seventh nomination) • Large market: WUBE Cincinnati (its second win and 10th nomination) • Medium market: KUZZ Bakersfield, Calif. (its third win and 13th nomination) • Small market: WKSF, Asheville, N.C. (first time nominee and winner)

Broadcast Personality of the Year:

• National: Kix Brooks, “American Country Countdown” • Major market: WIL St. Louis’ Cornbread, Pat James, Annie Henson, Harry Schroeder, and Mac “Captain Mac” Douglas for “The Cornbread Morning Show featuring Cornbread, Pat James, Producer Annie, Father Harry, and Captain Mac” (the show’s first nomination and win, although Cornbread and Pat James previously shared a win for medium market broadcast personality in 2003 for their work at KFDI Wichita, Kan.) • Large market: WFMS Indianapolis’ Jim Denny, Deborah Honeycutt and Kevin Freeman for “Jim Denny and Friends” (the show’s second win, and sixth nomination, although Denny and Freeman were also nominated for their work together in 1998) • Medium market: WIVK Knoxville, Tenn.’s Jack Ryan for “WIVK at Night with Jack Ryan” (his first win after four previous nominations) • Small market: WGSQ Cookeville, Tenn.’s Gator Harrison and Greg “StyckMan” Owens for “Gator & The StyckMan” (the show was also a winner in 2007)

A panel of radio professionals representing all market sizes and regions selects the winners.
