‘Pure Country’ Sequel Filming In Nashville

George Strait and Universal South artist Katrina Elam (pictured) are starring in a new film from the director of “Young Guns,” “The Next Karate Kid,” and Strait’s “Pure Country,” according to MusicCityTV.com, the blog of WKRN-TV (News 2) entertainment reporter Brad Schmitt. The film, titled “A Pure Country Gift,” is filming in the Nashville area and is a sequel to Strait’s original starring vehicle, according to the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission.

According to the casting call, the film was seeking the following colorful collection of local extras: gospel choir members, rodeo clowns, rodeo cowboys, sushi chefs, Japanese extras, extras with pickup trucks, doctors, nurses, orderlies, musician types, film crew types, hair and makeup people, music executive types, upscale restaurant customers, homeless types, tourists, good-looking cowboys, ranch hands, beefy security guards, roadie types, mutton busters (a rodeo event for kids), country music and George Strait fans.
